About Dr. Vanessa Tran Minnick
Dr. Vanessa Tran Minnick graduated from the University of Houston, TX - one of 16 Optometry schools in the nation. Dr. Minnick began her career as an optician in 1991, and quickly realized that she was determined to become an Optometrist. After being awarded first place in the Health Occupation Student of America, National Optometry Competition, she was offered a research and development position to work with NASA astronauts and assist them in developing their mission eyewear requirements. At the same time, she worked as an optician to put herself thru undergraduate school until entering optometry school.

In addition to her Texas license, Dr. Minnick is licensed to practice in California and Florida, and is licensed in the Treatment of Glaucoma. She also has many years of LASIK co-management experience, including assisting in the surgery. First hand observation of cataract and retinal surgery has provided her with the training to educate prospective patients concerning these surgical procedures.

Dr. Minnick is a friendly, outgoing person who truly believes in educating the patient concerning the health of their eyes and spends the extra time required to ensure the patient fully understands any complications. She emphasizes that regular eye examines are an important component of an overall preventative health maintenance program. As she explains: The eyes are the only organ of the body that you can see inside of and observe the natural state of the blood vessels. Examining the eyes allows early detection of many disorders of the body, including brain tumor, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and other vascular systemic diseases.

Dr. Minnick opened Fine Eyewear with the patient foremost in mind.
